The Oral History Website was set up by Professional Oral Historian and Audio Archivist Ken Howarth. Ken was a pioneer in recording oral history in the UK. During a career in libraries his interest in recording oral history matured. This led to the creation of the North West Sound Archive (UK) and in 1979 he was appointed its first director and archivist. He remained there until taking early retirement. His skills as a librarian and later as a qualified museum curator, and in-house experience as an archivist gives him a unique perspective into oral history. He is BBC radio trained and a recognised international authority on Oral History having published widely. He has worked for such diverse organisations as the United Nations, through to training community groups in rural Wales where he now lives. Thank you for visiting our web site. We hope that you found what you were looking for, if not please feel free to contact us. |
